Essential Functions

Works directly with the Health System Information Services leadership regarding reporting and analytical strategies, budget requirements, and adherence to IT General Controls; directs and coordinates reporting activities of the Electronic Medical Records Systems ensuring effective development and delivery of accurate reports to end-users; facilitates the establishment of a personal knowledge base of Electronic Health Record (EHR) solutions through education and experience; performs complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing management reports, and regulatory agency requests; utilizes IT infrastructure Library (ITIL) methodology as an integrated, process-based, best practice framework for managing IT services; facilitates and develops programs and methodologies for analyzing, reporting, and presenting data; uses and extends the capabilities of database applications and analytical tools; researches new data sources and analytical tools; uses training and experience to evaluate and interpret data resources; facilitates the communication of results to management and internal customers; performs data analysis in order to extract requirements, identify data inaccuracies, and ensure accurate processing and reporting; works with stakeholders to build, test and maintain integration points with revenue cycle and clinical solutions; facilitates and performs design, coding, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of these solutions, and has a working knowledge of the integrated environment, to include an understanding of solutions interoperability and interfacing; utilizes vendor supplied architectural tools for solution development, support, and maintenance; maintains appropriate documentation of solution processes, development, support, training, and auditor requests; serves as the escalation point of contact in the on call rotation for the reporting team; remains available through preferred means and responds in a timely and professional manner when contacted; demonstrates leadership of the reporting team through effective management of daily reporting and analytical operations; establishes and enforces team and individual accountability to ensure a highly productive quality team that is customer service oriented; serves as a role model for the importance of knowledge sharing and continuous learning; serves as a mentor and coach to reporting team members; demonstrates leadership of change management principles; completes all mandatory department and hospital educational requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety standards; maintains equipment and supplies necessary to complete essential job functions; communicates and uses appropriate customer relations skills competently; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies, and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's mission and values; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of experience as a computer programmer or systems analyst, one of which was in a managerial/supervisory capacity. Working knowledge of one or more programming languages/reporting systems including Java, SQL, Crystal Reports, Hyperion and LINQ are required.  Knowledge of SQL databases and general knowledge of data structures and HL7 Transactions is required. A master's degree is preferred.  Experience implementing and maintaining complex systems in a healthcare environment is preferred.  Cerner CCL experience is highly preferred.
