The Nurse Manager has overall responsibility for the operation of the nursing unit and for the measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the unit’s performance. The Nurse Manager ensures that employees have effective management, good communication, excellent patient care skills, and appropriate coaching/discipline. In the role as overall manager of the unit, the Nurse Manager has the primary responsibility for supervising the Charge Nurses, ensuring that they fulfill their responsibilities as first level supervisors. Nurse Managers are granted the authority to carry out the decision-making function of their position. The Nurse Manager has the authority to act in the absence of the VP/Chief Nursing Officer when designated and authorized by the VP/Chief Nursing Officer. The Nurse Manager is responsible on a 24-hour basis for the coordination and staffing of patient care, administrative activities, and nursing activities. The Nurse Manager is also responsible on a 24 hour basis for the quality and quantity of nursing care provided to patients. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the implementation of /and evaluation of all nursing care and related activities. Accountability and responsibility for quality of care and patient satisfaction is a priority.
Must be a Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current State of Alabama RN license required. Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred but not required. 3-5 years experience in acute care with at least 2 years in a leadership/management role required. Experience with Electronic Health Record required.
