    Provide basic patient care. Perform routine treatment procedures and assist in maintenance of a safe, clean environment. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education

  • Senior Level student in good standing of a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Experience

    1. Completion of first semester acute care clinical course.

    Certifications

    1. AHA BLS CPR Certification upon hire.

    Communication Skills:

    1. Able to read, write and speak English.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Essential duties and other responsibilities will be carried out under the direct supervision of an experienced registered nurse. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

    1. Provide basic patient care; take and record vital signs to include temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure and intake-output measurements.
    2. Prepare patients for meals and assist designated patients to chair, assist patients with ambulation, and assist patients with bathing and toileting.
    3. Perform routine treatment procedures, to include invasive procedures such as blood draws, stage I and II wound care, and urinary catheterization; assists with specialty bed functions.
    4. Assist nursing staff in complicated treatment procedures; perform routine treatment procedures.
    5. Assist and accompany patients in the admission, transfer and discharge process
    6. Collect, label, and transport specimens.
    7. Transport equipment, supplies, charts, and materials.
    8. Make rounds, addressing patient requests, performing basic patient/family tasks, report and record changes in condition or behavior of patients or unusual incidents, within scope of training.
    9. Clean patient care rooms, equipment and instruments; report equipment problems; order and store supplies; maintain appropriate PAR levels.
    10. Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards.
    11. Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols.
    12. Adheres to Hospital Policy on the application and monitoring of the patient when restraints are employed.
    13. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops.
    14. Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, and/or near misses in a timely manner.
    15. Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
    16. Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct and maintains strict confidentiality of patient information at all times.
