Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM - Flexible work arrangements may be approved as needed for school projects.  

POSITION SUMMARY
Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi-Cola Bottler founded in Birmingham, AL, more than 100 years ago. Our Plant Maintenance Mechanic Internship Program is designed to create the Buffalo Rock Plant Mechanics of the future. As a Plant Maintenance Mechanic Intern, you will have the opportunity to develop mechanical skills and will learn how to support by repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment while attending school.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments.  
Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.  
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, hand tools, and power tools.  
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. 
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.  
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, level, plum bobs, and straightedges.  
Repairs or replaces functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.  
Starts devices to test their performance. 
Lubricates and cleans parts. 
May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. 
May initiate purchase order for parts and machines. 
May repair electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.  
Required to weld and burn.  
Requires lifting up to 50 pounds maximum. 
Sets up codes/repairs for production lines. 
Observe operation of equipment to determine if problems with equipment or operator.  
Required to complete other activities assigned by supervisor. 
Responsible for continuous self improvement through the knowledge and use of all Buffalo Rock provided training, either web-based, in-house, or any other provided method. Must successfully complete assigned training curriculum, including but not limited to online and/or facilitated training.  
FOOD SAFETY: Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in the Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Required participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues realted to Food Safety.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Other Requirements:Full-time enrollment in a qualified 2 year discipline
2.5 GPA or better
Commitment as a Intern for at least one (1) year after graduation.
