Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Construction Manager/Inspector for an anticipated position supporting a construction effort in the country of Qatar. The Construction Manager will capable of providing expert recommendations and support in building construction, verifies measurements, construction adequacy, and work being completed IAW.  The candidate will be responsible for selected construction inspections, quality control, submittal reviews for all of the construction projects.  The work location for this position is on the Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB) in Qatar.

Clearance Types

Minimum Requirements
  • Must have at a minimum of 15 years construction field experience in all phases of Civil and Building Construction or a two (2) year associate’s degree in Construction Management or related field and 10 years of field experience.
  • Construction management service providers must have experience in all aspects of building construction.
  • Experience in mechanical projects (HVAC, plumbing), electrical projects, or civil/structural projects is required.
  • Must hold an American Concrete Institute (ACI) concrete testing certification.
  • Must be versed in the International Building Code, NFPA Fire Codes and the NEC in addition to general construction practices.
  • Knowledgeable of National Building and Fire Codes
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
  • Position requires a Secret Clearance and the ability to maintain it.
Due to nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in AutoCAD 2012 is preferred
  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and deciphering all construction documents (schedules, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and related documents).
  • Able to analyze procedures to identify deficiencies, review time/cost estimates, monitor project phasing and ensure adherence to approved safety standards, observe and inspect ongoing construction work, oversee construction record keeping activities.
  • Able to recommend change orders, review proposed change orders submitted by construction contractors, prepare and submit reports, and keep a daily log of all activities, weather conditions and work quantities.
  • Conduct building code and egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control systems reviews, and sprinkler and water supply systems reviews, including hydraulic calculations
  • Provide support to the building management office for fire alarm and fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance.
  • Propose additions, changes, and updates to existing fire protection and life safety codes, standards, and regulations, such as CSA, NFPA, and ULC, perform impact analysis on the consequences of new code adoption and code cycle changes to construction project requirements and building operations.
  • Meet client and customer needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks in the time allotted, and effectively communicating with project team members, clients, customers, and others.
Compose technical letters and reports to address specific technical concepts as may be needed by assigned tasks.
