Provide technical and process leadership for film manufacturing at the 3M Decatur, AL facility. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineer to be an integral part of a dynamic team.

1) Responsible for implementation of new and modified processes and equipment to standardization.
2) Responsible for improving key performance measures for assigned processes:
Operating efficiency (OEE/CEE)
Rates
Process yield
Equipment runtime and downtime
3) Actively utilize Six Sigma and statistical tools for improving processes.
4) Actively utilize Lean Manufacturing to reduce waste.
5) Actively participate with Product Engineers in the resolution of product complaints.
6) Responsible for continuous improvement of assigned processes:
Develop and lead programs to increase product and process understanding
Develop and implement programs to reduce process variability
7) Provide technical support to Production and Plant Engineering on daily operational issues.
8) Assure process safety on process changes, operational safety procedures, and materials.
Assist production in resolving safety issues
Assist production in developing safety procedures.
Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures as necessary.
9) Work with Plant, Division, and other internal and external resources as needed to accomplish objectives.
10) Develop a partnership and a cooperative effort with Product Engineers and Plant Engineering personnel.
11) Ability to cover nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary, to support 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year continuous manufacturing.

* The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in best manufacturing practices (i.e. Six Sigma, SPC, Lean) and must exhibit strong organization, communication, project management, and coaching skills.
* Successful candidates will have high personal integrity, an energetic & positive attitude and be a self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities and have the ability to bridge laboratory, business, engineering and manufacturing boundaries.

Qualifications

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

* Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering is required

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred
* Experience in manufacturing/process engineering is preferred
* Experience in extrusion, casting, film making, coating, and winding is a plus
* Candidate must have the ability to perform root cause analysis and apply systematic thinking in problem solving
* Demonstrated leadership ability, process control experience, and experience working directly with customers would be beneficial
* 6-Sigma, Statistics, Lean Manufacturing, AspenTech, iFIX, and Minitab experience are preferred
